DIGITAL CAVE

‘As you go out to the 2040s, now the bulk of our thinking is out in the cloud. The biological portion of our brain didn't go away but the nonbiological portion will be much more powerful. And it will be uploaded automatically the way we back up everything now that's digital.’ - Ray Kurzweil

Digital Cave is interactive and immersive VR content that completely surrounds a user as though they are standing in the middle of the scene. It consists of five worlds and contains the process of ‘mind uploading’.
At this point in time when the world is changing rapidly, we must constantly reshape the present and future for a sustainable life. In the post-human era, humans will become more accustomed to virtual space than the real world. Digital Cave presents a real-time world within an internet-connected cloud system.

The Allegory of the Cave is an allegory that the ancient Greek philosopher Plato proposed to explain the theory of forms, in which there are two worlds, the world inside the cave and the world outside the cave. The prisoners who are chained in the cave can only see the shadows in the cave, and they live by thinking that this is a real thing. Then, a prisoner breaks the chain and goes out into the world to face reality. Back in the cave, he tells the other prisoners that everything in the cave is an illusion, but no one believes this, only what he sees is the truth.

This cave and the outside world are reality, idea, a visible world, and an Intelligible world. I set this space as a real world and a virtual world, and I defined the outside of the cave as an online world for the coming future.
